It really depends on your needs as a mobile user but we'd say it's worth the money if you're going to get the most out of its features. Having a large, tablet-like display is particularly useful if you're someone who likes to make liberal use of S-pens for productivity or watch content on the go.
The new upgrades for the Fold 5 are relatively minor but they make sense and overall add to the user experience of the device. A slimmed-down design and new hinge that let it sit flat are particularly welcome for pocketability and the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip make it just as powerful as its Galaxy S23 Ultra sibling.
Who has the best deal at launch?
Tough call, but we think Samsung itself likely has the strongest offering out the gates for US Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 deals at launch. Not only is its trade-in rebate of up to $1,000 a match for the best you'll find at other retailers, but it applies to both carriers and unlocked devices. This makes Samsung a really flexible all-around choice - and the free memory upgrade and additional bundle offers for the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Tab S9 don't hurt either.
For our readers in the UK, we'd probably recommend the excellent range of Vodafone tariffs from Mobiles.co.uk as a great starting place if you're needing a contract. For unlocked devices - it's easy - Samsung itself currently has the best deal with its trade-in rebate of up to £650 (non-trade-in customers can still get £100 off with a coupon too!).
